'The Ride of Life'
A brilliant exhibition of contemporary automata - developed as a satire of British culture. It was originally intended to become a huge 25,000 sq ft automated theme park - but during the 90's recession the project was axed.
This mixture of beautiful, hilarious (and sometimes a bit pervy) pieces are now on display at Kinetica Museum in Spitalfields market - not for long, but if you can't visit check out the YouTube movie here, set to a lovely soundtrack of 'I am the egg man'.
My favourites are the larger than life naked bar staff, the couple gyrating on a bowl of decapitated heads, and the freak at the fruit machine who yells at you and gives you the 'V'.
